Engineering Consultant Services

For District Cooling System and Power Plant Project for Suvarnabhumi Airport

The Power Plant Development group of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand has been awarded a contract to provide Engineering Consultant Services for District Cooling System and Power Plant Project for Suvarnabhumi Airport of District Cooling System and Power Plant Co., Ltd.

On 23 January 2004, a contract signing ceremony was held between District Cooling System and Power Plant Co., Ltd (DCAP), represented by Dr. Kamol Takabut, Acting President, and the Power Plant Development group of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT PPD), represented by Mr. Vudtichai Eksangsri, Assistant Governor-Power Plant Engineering, at EGAT head office, Nonthaburi. The contract is awarded to EGAT PPD to provide Engineering Consultant Services to DCAP for District Cooling System and Power Plant Project for Suvarnabhumi Airport.

EGAT PPD’s scope of work for the project cover services in the Engineering and Construction Phases; project management, engineering design review, providing recommendation, negotiation and preparation for Contract Variation and Change Order, evaluation of EPC Contractor work progress for each term of payment, field supervision of construction, erection, testing and commissioning of 2 x 20 megawatts gas turbine generators, 2 x 63 t/h HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generator), 15 megawatts steam turbine generator, and 12,600 RT(Refrigerant tons) steam absorption chiller. The services also include coordinating between the Owner and the EPC Contractor, leading the technical meetings and preparation of minutes of meeting.

DCAP, a joint venture of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), PTT Public Co., Ltd. (PTT) and Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), has been awarded a contract by New Bangkok International Airport Co., Ltd. (NBIA) to develop a district cooling system and power plant project (DCS PP Project) to generate electricity and supply chilled water for the passenger terminals and other facilities of the Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangplee district of Samutprakarn. Under the contract, DCAP will provide electricity of 50 MW per annum as well as chilled water of 12,600 RT per annum to the airport under a 25 years concession using natural gas as primary fuel and low sulfur diesel oil as secondary fuel.

EGAT PPD is at present providing Engineering Consultant Services for various types of thermal power plant such as the fossil, coal, natural gas and biomass fired, cogeneration plants, IPP, SPP, hydro power plants, transmission and environmental works, industrial plants, efficiency improvement, commercial buildings and related areas.
